Even though the fall season in Utah is So. Incredibly. Short. We love to make the most of it by taking time to go explore our own city and discover new things right in our own backyard. With baby boy only nine weeks out, we are trying to enjoy these last few months together as a family of three before some big changes come our way.
For a fun and simple family outing, l planned a simple road trip/Sunday drive for a family to explore our beautiful city a little bit more and decided to pack some snacks and beverages for us to enjoy on our journey. One of my personal preferences during pregnancy is to avoid drinking caffeinated beverages… Which made this DASANI® Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade from my go-to choice for our adventure, and for me to enjoy guilt-free.

1. Keep It Kid Friendly
Before we had kids, Nick and I used to love taking her good old Sunday drive. Now that Jade is a little bit older it’s not as unbearable with all of the “are we there yet?” Questions on repeat. I’ve also found that getting her involved in conversation or playing video games like “I spy” are a great way for her to enjoy it more too.
2. Don’t Rush, Take Your Time
We love taking drives on Sundays because we don’t have to rush. After church, we hop in the car and just drive… it’s fun to point out interesting buildings, to stop when we found a new park or just admire the changing colors of the fall leaves.
3. Bring Snacks and Hydration
Depending on how long your drive is, you’ll definitely want to pack a few snacks and some delicious beverages to keep you hydrated. I loved the DASANI® Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade flavor. It’s not too sweet and is super light and refreshing.
4. Create A Fun Playlist
I’m such a sucker for the old classics, and Perry Como is such a fun album to sing along two, especially with kids. Jade‘s favorite song was “A-You’re Adorable“ and she just giggled the whole time.
5. Remember To Unplug
Make sure to download your music advance, and to turn your phone on airplane mode so that you can really engage in family time. More and more studies show that how isolated we can become (even when we are together), because our minds are elsewhere when distracted on our phones and other devices.
It’s amazing how much more alert and aware you are when you completely unplug them just look at all the beauty that mother nature has created around here.
I hope that this list inspires you to discover something new in your city and take the time to sip on your favorite beverage and take in all the beauty in nature has to offer.
