Ready for Spring

Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.09.58 PMSometimes I feel like I can be quite impatient. I am the type of person who gets so excited for Christmas that I am tossing and turning the entire night before in sheer excitement for the surprises that will come in the morning, and I’m 28 years old!! And thats just one example. I’m ALWAYS  dreaming up my next big idea, planning vacations, planning home improvement projects and trying to find the fastest way to have a good body. I’m always dreaming, writing lists of hopes and goals. While that makes me very goal oriented, it also becomes a stumbling block when I need be grateful for the things I do have and to be patient in getting the things I don’t.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf stated, “Patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something … even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well!

For the past 8 months have been working on learning to accept and love myself right now, at this moment. It has been really hard, one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, and its still something I’m working on. What I have learned is this: if you can’t fully accept yourself as you are right now, its going to be nearly impossible to fully accept yourself later. You’ll perpetuate disappointment trying to get what you don’t have, falsely believing you’ll be happy once you have it. This is the biggest lie of all. Friends, if we are not happy NOW with the things we do have and who we are, what we don’t have will never be enough to fill that void. Be patient, trust the process and repeat after me:

I am Beautiful

I am Worthy

I am Deserving

I am Good Enough

I am Perfectly Imperfect

I’m not Afraid to be Myself

I Love and Accept Myself

Hang this list up in a place where you will see it when you are getting ready. Repeat it to yourself outloud (and unapologetically) every time you see this list! You ARE all of those things! I am so excited to feel this good about myself and to start saying “yes” to more things. Once you realize how amazing you truly are its easier to see how amazing and beautiful other people are too! These photoshoots are something I’m doing  to prove myself right, progress will come eventually. I’m just so much happier when I am patient with myself.Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.10.10 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.10.46 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.11.03 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.11.55 PMScreen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.11.32 PM
