Thats more like it! I am totally that person who will start to zen out during a yoga class, then SQUIRREL!!!! For some reason if I only open one eye, its like I’m still halfway zen mode.

Now lets talk about some of my favorite moves from yoga!

Screen Shot 2015-07-17 at 1.12.30 PMI plank this move because it is strengthening and toning so many areas. Try to hold a plank as long as you can, then challenge yourself by upping the time ten seconds.

This pose is called crow. I’m not sure why, but its actually not about strength as much as it is balance. Honestly, looking at a picture of me doing this post is another reminder that anything is possible. Screen Shot 2015-07-17 at 1.10.02 PM

For the past three months I’ve been working extremely hard on a BIG goal of mine, getting into the best shape of my life, six pack and everything (Its terrifying to say that out loud, or even just write it here.) I’ve fluctuated in weight between 30-65lbs my entire adult life and have never felt “comfortable” in my own skin. I always wanted to be smaller, I just wasn’t willing to work for it or make the real changes to see big changes (attending culinary school didn’t help either.)

Before I was ready to really get to a healthy, more loving place mentally, I needed to forgive myself and love and accept myself. Its taken a long time and I still struggle with body image, but I discovered the reason I’ve never been able to keep the weight off permanently is because I didn’t feel like I deserved to feel that way. This is the FIRST time in my life that I’m not working for a number on the scale (even though I still have a love hate relationship with that thing, worst invention ever!) I’m working on having a healthy body because I deserve to be the best version of myself, I love my body and I want to take good care of it. I’m so ready to little by little and daily consistent action, to give myself the gift of health for the rest of my life.
