This little white hutch was built by yours truly. I’m quite proud of my accomplishment as its the one and only thing I’ve ever build (without Nick’s help) and its still standing! It actually used to hold all of the towels in our last house, because that home didn’t have any cupboards or a linen closet. WHAT THE HECK!?!? (take a deep breath Chelsey) Its all good now, our current house has two linen closets, obviously that was very important to me.
If you’ve been following along on our new house adventures, you’ll remember that we moved in back in September of 2014, if your new to my blog, we built a house and moved in September of last year (I’m also Hil-arious.) I’m not sure why, but it seems like when you’re unboxing (in the beginning) you’re carefully selecting homes for your beloved belongings and two weeks later you’re like “Okay, enough of this crap!” and you’ll start putting the most random, unrelated items in a white hutch in your dining room. Like “Sure. American flags, tools and hand sanitizer totally go on the same shelf!”
I admit it was a bit out of control, but the good news is, these items didn’t really need a new home, they were just miscellaneous items that needed to go to their designated spots. Which meant I could actually use this space in a practical way!
And practical for this space meant not running up and down the stairs for clean hand towels for the main level bathroom, a little extra space for the kitchen towel overflow (that when in the same drawer, made it impossible to shut when all the towels were clean at the same time), then a good space those bulky martini glass boxes and a home for the few non-white plates that I own.
So. Much. Better. Right? But thats not all folks! I’m a huge fan of things being intentional and where my kitchen cabinets all have the brushed brass knobs, I thought it was only fitting to swap these boring white ones out. It was as simple as unscrewing the white ones and screwing in the new brushed brass ones, two minutes tops.
Pretty easy swap, but its amazing how the smallest detail like that can make a difference. As usual, my beautiful half-naked child, practicing her balancing on a sippy cup? I’m sure she’s going to grow up to be a “Free Spirit” like that one chick from the Bachelor. How is it possible that I can dress her to the nines, do up her hair and within 10 minutes she looks like this? Its who she is, my little 1/4 Brazilian free spirit child.
