I always think back to what I liked receiving when I was pregnant and its not hard to remember that my favorite gifts given to me at Jade’s baby shower (almost three and a half years ago) were Aden and Anais muslin blankies and baby jewelry. For the first 15 months of her life, my daughter wore a bracelet and gaudy headband 24/7 and I was set on everyone seeing how cute and girly she was. I was remember being pretty concerned about someone mistaking my baby girl for a boy, and then I’d have to (gasp,) correct them. Well, I guess the joke was on me, now she won’t let me brush her hair and she refuses to wear jewelry, how things change so quickly.
As most of you already know, I’m OBSESSED with golden/metallic tones so I wanted to tie those tones into this pink spread by using golden silverware and the mercury glass mini vases. I made the cake, cookies, cupcakes, meringue cookies and the hand-made heart rice crispy treats (did I mentioned that parties and baking are my thing?). The doughnuts however came from the bakery section, sometimes you’ve got to know your limits!
If I had to choose my favorite I would say, I really love how the cupcakes came together. I had some of those pink pocky cookie sticks and I couldn’t figure out a cute way to display them on their own. I placed them on the cupcakes in a criss-cross position and PRESTO! I love those moments when something isn’t working then all the sudden you have a brilliant idea and it better than your original idea! This color scheme came together so beautifully, I’m actually going to use some of the same elements for my daughters “Garden Tea Party” themed birthday party next weekend.
Even if my toddler refuses to wear jewelry or let me brush her hair, I’m happy knowing that I can channel that energy toward pink baby shower parties. I just love sweet and girly things.
What is your favorite part about attending or throwing a baby shower?
So delicate! You picked the perfect flowers to compliment the treats. I love pink and you really did it justice!!
Thank you so much! xo
