Even though my house has been decorated like this for nearly a week, I decided to post these spooky pictures on October 1st to start this month off right! But lets talk about Halloween, its slowly becoming a bigger and bigger production at our house. Every year I add a few more spookies to my collection and continue to find new places for the old stuff. I would say that my Halloween decorating style is similar to a “haunted mansion” or “elegant Halloween” theme. You won’t find those cutesy-crafty creepys, smily witches, cartoon ghosts or bright orange pumpkins in this house, no sir.
Normally this table has family photos and a few trinkets on it. I wanted to switch it up and make a bold statement, so I went with a gallery wall. I just took black frames I had (they were the gallery wall in my last house) and printed creepy pictures out at the Costco photo center. The pile of doll heads photo is a really nice touch, don’t you think?
I found this amazing alligator skull at Target and fell in love! The crow in its mouth idea came to me and I thought it was quite genius, so I just went with it. That beautiful silver box with “rosemary” engraved in it, was found at a thrift store for last years Ms. Havisham themed Halloween party, so I wanted to put it to good use again this year.
I finished off the other end by filling some apothecary jars with creepy odds and ends like a skull, eyeballs and rats. This space feels very right to me. Happy Halloween time my friends!
