The Ritz Carlton – Cancun

Screen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.42.16 PMI love, LOVE-LOVE traveling, and my travel style (up until now) had always been somewhere in-between: Can I find a similar room for less? And googling hot deals and comparing prices alone and not-really-reading reviews or doing much research. So you can bet when I hear about a personal review from someone I trust, its going to be added to the top of the “new places to visit” list. When my cousin Colleen came back from a week long stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun she was gushing about EVERYTHING. She went on, and on, and on about the five star service, the rooms, the delicious food, the spa, the gym, the beach, the complimentary aromatherapy infused towels given on the beach (and at the gym), the fresh popsicles, fruit juice, and cold water bottles given out on the beach, being misted poolside with flower water, the staff knowing you by name and basically feeling like royalty. So, you can bet your bottom dollar after that conversation I made it a personal go to stay at this magical place. And we did have an anniversary coming up…Screen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.44.27 PMScreen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.43.34 PMTo to celebrate 7 wonderful years of marriage, we booked flights for our week-long stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun. This was our first time at the Ritz, it was also our first time in Cancun. After the review from my cousin, my expectations were pretty high… I don’t want to jump the gun or anything, but this was the nicest hotel experience I’d ever had. From the second we checked in, the welcoming staff treated us like gold.

From the moment we walked into the lobby, the smell of hundreds of GORGEOUS fresh flowers filled the air. We were greeted by name, and offered the most amazing virgin grapefruit cocktails. They took our bags to our room, gave us a tour, and shared a few ideas of things to do and places to eat. I instantly felt so at home or so relaxed, and in a hotel. Normally, I start to have a little buyers remorse for using a pretty penny on a “place to sleep”, but this time I felt that I was getting way, way more than I paid for.Screen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.43.53 PMScreen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.41.08 PMScreen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.48.19 PMAs you can see, the rooms were gorgeously decorated with light colors that were modern and clean. Who else noticed the beautiful gray textured wallpaper behind the bed? I felt like I was staying in a room that I could’ve decorated. The bathroom colors were my most favorite. The shower and countertops were a white and gray marble and I could not get enough of the door and cabinet color. Screen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.39.05 PMScreen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.39.46 PMOur room was ocean view with a balcony, it made me want to sit out there and stare at the clear turquoise water all day long. With how well kept the resort was and the newly renovated rooms, it was hard to believe it was over 20 years old. It felt and looked like a brand new resort.

They set up your chairs, towels and umbrella for you and took your drink order. Every 30 minutes or so, staff members started bringing around complimentary aromatherapy infused towels, complimentary  popsicles, fruit juice, and cold water bottles, and the best part… WIFI on the beach and at the pool!Screen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.45.31 PMScreen Shot 2015-11-01 at 10.45.52 PM

This vacation was hand down, the one of the best I’ve ever taken and I cannot wait to come back here again. The thing that impressed me the most was during our check out, multiple people said to the front desk “we’ll see you again next year” and it hit me. These guests are so pleased with their experience here, they come back again and again. Since I don’t believe in “once in a lifetime”, I’m making it a personal goal to come to the Ritz Carlton, Cancun annually. Anyone who’d stayed at this resort would agree, if you want a vacation where you come home refreshed, rejuvenated, waited on hand and foot, with tan-lines and enjoy to-die-for fish tacos, stay at the Ritz, Cancun. Until next time mi Amor, I’ll be dreaming of going back to you again soon.
