Cheese Platter//Roasted Garlic//Sun-dried Tomatoes

Screen Shot 2016-02-07 at 10.54.51 PM Are you a fan of cheese? I used to be cheddar cheese only kind of girl, but as I’ve grown up my tastes have grown up too. I recently had some new friends over for dinner and I wanted to serve an appetizer that felt a bit more adult, since we’re all adults and whatnot…

If you have a grocery store that sells specialty cheeses, you can find a lot of different varieties and flavor profiles to try. If you are new to cheese platters these are three fun ones to try and layer with berries, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic, artichoke on fresh baguette.Screen Shot 2016-02-07 at 10.54.35 PMGoat Cheese

The goat cheese is the one covered in pecans, which I rolled it in. This one was a mild variation, but they range in flavor depending on what you get. I LOVE goat cheese with roasted garlic on sourdough baguette.

Brie

There are many variations of Brie, but this creamy one was a mild version that was really easy for spreading. You can also eat the white moldy coating, but that just sounds gross to me, so I peel it off.

Creme Fraiche

Creme fraiche (pronounced creme fresh) is a thick, cultured cream with a slightly tart, nutty flavor. Its really good paired with fresh berries.

To build this gorgeous cheese plate, choose 3 of your favorite variations and layer on one side of the platter. On the other side, have your favorite toppings that pair well with the cheeses. Some ideas from my plate would be sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke, and roasted garlic. Add fresh herbs as a garnish and cracked pepper. If you are open to trying something new, or wowing your guests with fancy cheeses, give these ones a try.

What are your favorite varieties of cheese?
