Screen Shot 2016-06-02 at 12.38.22 AMBoxing has officially become an obsession. I go to a boxing gym six days a week and it’s been fun to watch how much I’ve improved in my form and overall fitness. I used to avoid working out because I hated sweating, and now I love seeing a puddle of sweat underneath my bag after my boxing workout, isn’t that crazy? It’s gross and awesome all at the same time. Boxing is one of the best things to happen to me in the last year, I’ve met some incredible people and we love getting together and sharing our love of boxing.

I hadn’t hosted a boxing themed party yet, which is weird, seeing how I am a party blogger and all. So, when I found all of the Rocky movies in a DVD collectors set I decided it was the perfect reason to host a “Boxing Themed” party/movie night and maybe we could even go swimming. Since there are 7 Rocky movies, the odds are pretty high that this might become a regular thing, so this first party needed to be memorable (I’m only mostly kidding). I set the intention to host an epic vintage boxing themed party and while browsing through the store the other day I found the perfect black, silver and red Muhammed Ali canvas! I’m telling you, I have a gift with shopping for party decor. Whenever I decide on a party theme, the perfect pieces always find their way into my life. We recently set up a boxing gym in our basement and this piece is going to look great in there afterwards. As a general rule, anytime you can reuse party decor you are basically winning at parties. Screen Shot 2016-06-02 at 12.38.05 AM THE SET UP

No matter your theme, every party should have a main table with a focal point and this stunning Muhammed Ali poster was mine. By setting up this party around the art I found, I was able to have a clear theme and color scheme to work with. I placed the canvas in the center and draped paper fans, paper tassels, bunting and black circle garland to make it the focus of the night. I had all of the food on this main table and tried to only serve things that matched the color scheme and theme. A trick when setting up your food items is to have different depths and heights to work with. It’s more appealing visually and complements the decor as well. Speaking of complementing the decor, have your guests come dressed in your color scheme too. I just love then things match, don’t you?Screen Shot 2016-06-05 at 9.49.18 PMTHE FOOD

The menu included boxing themed treats like: Bottled Water, “Heavy Weight Pulled Pork”, “Onion Rings”, “Light Weight Strawberries”, “Rocky Road” and three round treats (cookies, cupcakes and round wrapped candies) I cleverly titled “Round 1″, Round 2” and “Round 3”. Initially, I planned to do a red corner and a blue corner, but the only blue food items I could find were blueberries and candy. So to keep things on the lighter side (and to avoid serving tons of candy),  I stuck with mostly red food items to match my theme.Screen Shot 2016-06-02 at 12.06.22 AMTHE SWAG

This swag is more of a boxing gym survival kit, which would be great for both the experienced boxer or even someone who was brand new to it. Boxing requires a bit of gear so I included some necessities as well as a few of my things like: hand-wraps, mouth guards, hair ties, boxing gloves, New Raspberry Centrum Vitamints, Centrum MultiGummies and a bag to put it all in. I know a lot of people who don’t take vitamins regularly because they’re hard to swallow and (honestly) they taste gross. I added the Gummies and Vitamints because I love using products that make boring and mundane things new and exciting. It’s much easier to enjoy staying healthy with simple (and great-tasting) solutions like Centrum Gummies and Vitamints* especially if they are with you right in your gym bag! There are dozens of other Pfizer products that would’ve been a great fit to throw in there like Advil and Emergen-C, see the full list here for more ideas.

I like having multiple activities for my guests to do when I throw a party, options if you will. Depending on the the group, activities and entertainment can be anything from playing games and watching movies (which is hard to do with a group of all women, who enjoy talking). For this one, I planned for everyone watching Rocky, then we threw on some gloves to beat up the new punching bag. We ended up talking through most of our movie, no surprise there), working out lightly and just visiting with each other. It was easygoing and just nice to have a place in my home for my friends and I to do what we love.

If all of this boxing talk has you a interested in trying it out, you’re in luck! If you want a little taste of what my daily workout looks like, here is a sample of what I regularly do.

  • 5 Minutes of jump rope: Work up to a solid five minutes.
  • 12 Minutes of free bag work: Punch the bag for 4 minutes, 3 times.
  • 5 Minutes of Shadow boxing: Punch the air (as if it were the bag).
  • 30 push-ups
  • 60 sit-ups

Shadow boxing is sparring with an imaginary opponent, or throwing punches into the air without the punching bag, make sure not to over extend.Screen Shot 2016-06-05 at 4.20.46 PM

Okay friends, the next time your at Walmart, make sure to grab some Centrum Raspberry Vitamints and MultiGummies in the vitamin aisle. Also, click here for a coupon to print off before you go to save on your purchase.

Just out of curiosity, would you rather take your vitamin in a MultiGummy or a Raspberry Vitamint?
