All opinions are mine alone. #DesignedMega #CollectiveBiasI can’t believe we’ve been living in our house for nearly two years, and my half bath had been untouched in the decoration department. Since it’s the only bathroom on our main level, it gets the most traffic (especially from guests) and it didn’t really match the rest of my house, so I decided it was time to give this space some love and personality.
Because this room is so small I wanted to make small updates with a mega impact. I needed to add storage above the toilet, but hadn’t found anything I loved. Initially I was looking for an above-the-toilet cabinet, but after I browsing the bathroom aisle at Target, I discovered this bathroom storage ladder and I fell in love with the customizable aspects of it. Keep in mind, one of the hardest parts about decorating and maximizing a small half bath (especially with a pedestal sink) is the lack of storage for essentials like decor and toilet paper.
Speaking of toilet paper, because of the lack of storage, I was in there replacing rolls ALL. THE. TIME. I couldn’t stand how often those bargain rolls needed to be changed, and with already limited storage I knew it was time for a storage solution and the bigger 4 in 1 mega rolls. I recently switched to Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® (Mega Rolls) which are designed to give you more, with 4x more sheets I can forget about refilling the roll for longer periods of time. #bonusBefore I share a few of my tips to transforming a VERY small half bath, let’s take a look at what it looked like prior to this stunning transformation…
As you can see, I was not joking around with how small this room is. There was just enough room for a pedestal sink and a toilet. Prior to my makeover, I had a side toilet roll holder that could hold toilet paper and a box of tissues. Nothing special, but that’s okay because I was able to start with a clean slate.
First, I added a quick and easy accent wall with wallpaper, it’s the same wallpaper I used in my pantry makeover. It’s actually a sticker wallpaper, you read that right, A STICKER! (also from Target) that is easy to install, very forgiving and very little commitment (in case you change your mind later). To install you line it up along the ceiling and remove the back of the sticker, then continue to pull the back of the sticker down as you rub it in with your hands, making sure to rub out any air bubbles. For a textured sticker, I’m actually really impressed with how beautiful, and realistic it turned out.
Next,
I built the storage ladder… my husband built the storage ladder and I was ready to start arranging the baskets and decorating. Target had tons of basket options to choose from, but I went with a large wire basket and a smaller cloth basket. I added a plant, room spray, tissues an a few extra rolls of Quilted Northern toilet paper to my refreshed bathroom. Look at how nice those four times bigger rolls look in that basket!? I love that I was able to add them as the decorative element, they look beautiful and are every bit as comfortable (more so) than the stuff I was using before. Here is a side-by-side before and after comparison of the bathroom. What do you think? Obviously the transformation has given this room way more personality, and really brought it to life. PS Did anyone else notice the HUGE difference between the size of the bargain toilet paper versus the Quilted Northern brand?
So do yourself a favor by changing the TP less often, grab the brand with 4x more sheets and long-lasting comfort. Just one more reason Quilted Northern is always in style!
I hope you were inspired by my half bath makeover, I loved how this space came together!
