The “V” Word & My Core Intima Experience at Trilogy Medical Center

Vagina.

This word used to make me giggle nervously when I’d say it, and I know it still does because I still refer to it as “privates” with my 4-year-old. I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve mentioned this body part (it’s still hard for me to say, haha) on my blog. Over the past 30 years, I wasn’t really comfortable with my own vagina. But I’ve recently learned a LOT more about my vagina, how it works (or wasn’t working), how the vagina ages (just like everything else) and how to make it work even better. So I wanted to share my honest experience because I feel like my life has been improved and to share that there is hope if you’ve struggled with some of the same issues as I have.

If you’re a woman, and especially one who’s given birth. You KNOW how much things can change down there after having babies, or just one baby in my case. But it’s no laughing matter when you have urinary incontinence. Things like laughing, jumping rope and running were nearly impossible for me to do without incontinence. (Urinary Incontinence — the loss of bladder control — is a common and often embarrassing problem. The severity ranges from occasionally leaking urine when you cough or sneeze to having an urge to urinate that’s so sudden and strong you don’t get to a toilet in time.) This is the NUMBER ONE reason I considered looking into the Core Intima treatment at Trilogy Medical Center.screen-shot-2016-11-10-at-1-46-12-am

So I’ve been boxing almost 5 days a week since May 2015, so every day I am running, jumping around and constantly stopping to go to the bathroom. Which most of the time I couldn’t help that I was peeing a little every time I worked out, it was THE WORST. When I met with Rhonda (the Core Intima Specialist at Trilogy, READ her article on the “Pretty Kitty” treatment Here) she talked to me and taught me about my vagina this treatment. She mentioned the obvious benefits of vaginal tightening such as, more sensation, toning and tightening the inside and the outside, better sex, help with incontinence, and lightening the color. I assured her that I was ONLY interested in the incontinence benefits, because who’s going to admit that they’re not as tight as they used to be, that they don’t have an amazing love life or that they’re dry like the Sahara desert (down there). Ummm, not me. Even though I could check all of those boxes off my list I wasn’t going to admit that. Because despite having a baby, I was CONVINCED things were just fine down there, except the part when I peed myself while jumping, coughing or laughing of course.

How It Works

CO2RE Intima uses laser energy to relieve the signs of aging and childbirth and the changes and symptoms women may be experiencing related to vaginal wellness by:

  • Treating dryness, itching, pain and dyspareunia associated with loss of estrogen
  • Treating Pigmentation, dystrophy and laxity
  • Restoring Vulva and Vaginal tone, flexibility and Shape

Now, I’m a Licensed Master Esthetician in the state of Utah. So I’m no stranger to vaginas, I used to work in a spa regularly giving women Brazilian waxes. Heck, I used to teach the Brazilian wax class when I was the instructor at a beauty school. So I know from professional experience about being professional and making someone feel comfortable when administering this type of service. It was eye opening to be on the other end of the service and wondering things like “How much will this hurt?”, “Will this really work for me?” and “I hope this treatment doesn’t take as long as a trip to the DMV!” and my worst thought, I’m embarrassed to admit it but just being honest here, “Now I have a REAL reason to not have sex.” Sadly with how busy I am, it was hard for me to get into the mood when my to-do list is never ending. #KeepingItRealscreen-shot-2016-11-10-at-1-45-16-amThe Treatment

I was ALL NERVES when I got to their beautiful office and checked in. But the next thing I knew I was sitting pant-less on a table with a towel over myself wondering how I got there. When Rhonda came in, she was SO confident and excited for me, it was hard to remember why I was nervous in the first place. She started by putting a numbing agent on the outside and letting it start working for a few minutes. Once it started to kick in, she had me lay back and she inserted the laser probe (think pap-smear, but painless) and started the treatment. The laser rejuvenated the inside as she turned it around and around and treated every area. It wasn’t painful or uncomfortable at all, and whatever awkwardness I felt initially, was eased by her being extremely professional and reassuring me how much I was going to LOVE the benefits of this treatment. Next, she treated the top and outside and thanks to the numbing agent it was totally painless. There were times I felt warm or a little hot, but I was able to have a normal conversation with her the entire time. I’ve had pap-smears that were WAY more uncomfortable and awkward mostly because the provider was awkward or didn’t talk to me… Anyone else ever had one of those? Ahhh, good times.

In about 15 minutes the treatment was over and I was getting dressed and on my way. As I was putting my pants back on I could already tell I was more sensitive down there… But it was also numb so I was going to give it a day or two. Now, there isn’t any “down-time” with this treatment, just a 7 day “no sex” rule (like NOTHING down there for 7 days) to allow the vagina to fully heal and do its thing before use. Which ended up being a great rule, because the next 2-3 days it felt a little dry and tender anyway (both things Rhonda told me to expect and watch for). I thought I was totally off the hook for being intimate for the week, but to my surprise, by day 4 I was REALLY struggling and not wanting to wait the full seven days. I didn’t realize how much sensation I had lost after having my baby, and how those changes had lowered my libido so much that it became another item to check off my to-do list. My sweet husband was strong enough for both of us and had to talk me down multiple times. AND to top things off I scheduled my treatment four days before my eighth wedding anniversary (talk about BAD planning). #WifeFail

I just wanted to remind you that prior to this treatment I thought my love life was great, but at the same time intimacy felt like a chore. But during my seven day sabbatical, I was able to reflect how much I had been pushing away from regular intimacy because things were totally different than before I had my daughter. My body changed, I had new stretch marks on my body, I needed to lose baby weight, I didn’t feel attractive, I was stressed out and exhausted ALL. THE. TIME. I wasn’t feeling the way I did about being intimate as I did when we first got married. Even after losing 85 pounds, it took a lot for me to get into the mood.

By days 5-6 I noticed that I didn’t have to pee when I was jumping rope. There I was at the gym and the clock went from 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes and finally 5 minutes and I didn’t have the urge to pee or have a single drop come out! I was SO happy that I started jumping faster and higher with each minute that passed. I was SHOCKED that it had made such a difference after only ONE treatment!

But finally day 7 came. FINALLY

AND WOW! WOW! WOW! If you’ve been lacking in your love life, it is possible for things to be better in bed than before you had kids. The best part of the entire experience is when Rhonda texted me “So, how did it go?” the morning of day 8 to which I responded with 5 gold star emojis.

It’s been about three weeks since my treatment and I will be singing the praises of this treatment, the benefits and of Trilogy Medical Center for a LONG time.

  1. Wow that’s amazing they have a treatment like this. I just had a hysterectomy last Monday I was so glad my dr could get my insurance to approve a bladder sling at the last minute because of the incontinence problem. It’s so humiliating! I’m glad to know there are other options out there for people. Wish I would have read this before last Monday. ?

  2. So I just read this and am wondering if the effects are long lasting. Sounds amazing and I need it asap but I don’t want to fork out the money if it doesn’t last long term.
