Just one week after hosting my 80s Ladies Dance Party, I woke up with the strongest feeling (and lots of messages) that I needed to start working on plans for my next one. I called my husband to break the news to him “Don’t freak out, but I want to start working on plans for my next dance party… in November!” You know you’re married to one AMAZINGLY supportive person when you had just wiped them out with a dance party the week before and they respond with “Go for it baby, how can I help?” Okay, isn’t he the best ever?!
Plans started and things continued to fall right into place. So it was time to come up with the theme, location, activities and sponsors… Basically plan a brand new party.
Have you ever seen How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days? It’s one of my ALL TIME favorite movies and if you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading immediately and head over to Netflix to get caught up! It’s one of the most quotable and iconic romantic comedies of the early 2000s and I have been wanting to throw a party based on this movie (specifically, the Mrs. DeLauer commercial) for a looooooong time. All I can say is that it was well worth the wait because this “Frost Yourself Dance Party” was one of my favorite parties I have EVER thrown.
My vision for this party was to have all things luxe, fancy, shimmery, sparkly, and to use as many gems from the movie as possible. I wanted to transport my guests to a beautiful place where they didn’t have to worry about set up, cooking, decorating or cleaning up. Luckily for me, I have the worlds absolute best party guests and all they needed to do was show up looking fabulous, and party hard which they did. We started the night off with an epic dance party version of the #MannequinChallenge (watch the video here), which they totally rocked! #hellohandstandgirls
Then the guests were able to enjoy healthy treats, play with the photo booths, get their hair and makeup done, and many other glamorous experiences, all of which were included in the ticket.I love offering an incentive for ladies to come early and make sure there are lots of people there right when the party starts, so I like to offer a fun VIP swag item for the first 100 people in line. My girl Heather offered the first 100 people in line a FREE lip gloss from Lipsense and they were gone fast! Each of the guests enjoyed having their lips done at the long-lasting luxury lip bar. This stuff is one of my absolute FAVORITE new makeup finds and it really works. Ladies, this gloss stays on through kisses, eating, drinking and more. #love
Each guest was able to pick out, wear and keep the jewelry set of their choice from Dawn Stark Designs. These sets were gorgeous, my favorite ones were the silver chain with the heart key charms.
Hands down the busiest station of the night were the Salon Beleza Ladies who did updos, as well as hair and face bejeweling. Lines were going ALL NIGHT! I was blown away by how many ladies were still wanting hair and face jewels… which made me SO happy to see.
We were also lucky enough to have The Selfie Scene come to the party and set up their green screen photo booth with custom backgrounds from the movie and a few custom ones from the party. The ladies absolutely loved taking photos and picking their own backgrounds and customizing the filters. It was one of my favorite things of the evening. Here’s how it works:
First, choose your background and stand in front of the green screen.
Don’t forget the props! Wait for the camera to take the photo, then send the photo directly to your cell phone or print it off.
The food at this party was to die for amazing. I had Aubergine and Company there serving Protein Haystacks and Brazilian Cheese Bread, which were both big hits.
I had a few new favorites there including: Acai Bowls from Vida Acai.
My every morning hot chai drink, Perk Energy… It literally tastes like Christmas in a cup.
Muscle egg was another new favorite of mine. They make the best dessert flavored protein shots.
All of the beautiful flower arrangements were made by Holly from Flowers on Main in Lehi, Utah. She completely blew my mind with the gorgeous arrangements she came up with to match the theme. Everyone was blown away by how gorgeous they were.
One of my favorite things of the night was the falling snow photobooth. I used a frosty backdrop and loose white confetti to create fake snow to throw around. It made some AMAZING boomerangs.
In true “How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days” fashion, we ended the night singing (Some of us were belting the words to) “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon and I sent everyone with a little love fern.
Looking back through all of these photos makes me so, so incredibly happy and grateful. I love that I played a role in making so many women happy that night and giving them a safe place to let loose and have fun with their friends. I am also SO grateful for the many wonderful sponsors and friends who took the time to help, make it perfect. It literally takes a village to pull off one of these events and I can’t believe how much support I’ve gotten from so many people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again for making this event SO successful and for helping me spread the word, supporting my parties, bringing your sisters, daughters, mothers and friends to my party to dance your hearts out. I put my lots of thought, planning, passion and love into my events and the fact that I have the support of the best party guests in the world makes me feel humbled and honored. Thank you! I CANNOT wait to see you at my next event!
